Do tanning creams for sunbeds work?

Do tanning creams for sunbeds work?
Personally, I love tanning outside. But in the colder months, I always visit salons to use sunbeds, which give me a perfect tan. What my followers always ask me is if tanning creams work for sunbeds as well. As you know, I love using tanning creams, which accelerate your tan.
Sunbeds emit ultraviolet radiation to produce a cosmetic tan. I believe you all know what a good feeling it is to be laying down in a sunbed and enjoying time for yourself. I think it’s important to take time and give yourself some love. I know I feel great after tanning in the colder months or when I am getting a pre-tan before going on vacation. I love it!
But before going to your chosen solarium, it is essential to prep your skin, so your skin can receive all of the advantages from using a sunbed. I am going to take you through some of the steps that I do, to prepare myself for tanning in a sunbed and also explain, how you can use tanning creams for better results.

Exfoliate your skin

– Do not skip this step, it is essential if you want to take complete advantage of the time in the sunbed. By exfoliating, you will remove the dead skin cells and make your skin ready to be tanned. The UV will hit your skin more easily if you prep it that way before tanning.

Hydration and moisture

– Dry skin is unhappy skin. Even when it comes to tanning in a solarium. Make sure you drink lots of water during the day, before and after tanning, so your skin stays moisturized. You can also use moisturizers before going to a tanning salon, so your skin will be nourished. I always take my reusable water bottle with me, so I would say I’m good at drinking a lot of water. BUT I am extra mindful of how much I drink especially when I have an appointment in the solarium.

Use a tanning cream

– Tanning creams are beneficial because of two reasons: they keep your skin moisturized, which is perfect for skin, but also they help with melanin production, which helps you get a darker tan much faster. Not using a tanning lotion will also lead to drying skin, collagen loss, and a loss of elasticity in the skin, overall giving a dull, unhealthy appearance. All of these tanning creams are formulated in a way, which will help you get darker faster. I personally use Tanzzo cream and I am very happy with it.

Remove makeup

– Makeup is not welcome here. Every though you like wearing your makeup, remove it before using a sunbed because it will decrease your chances of getting the tan that you want. In the worst-case scenario, makeup can react to UV light and cause skin allergies. In the beginning, I used to hate this, because I just felt so much more comfortable with my makeup on but girl, let me tell you, it’s worth it! Oh, I almost forgot! It is also not recommended to have perfume sitting on your skin while tanning.

Have a good diet

– Eat foods that are linked to healthier skin. It has been shown that eating mangos, peaches, tomatoes, apricots, and carrots contain carotene, which can increase your skin’s pigmentation. I have to admit, I was struggling with that a lot. But now I just try my best and nourish my skin not only with tanning creams and other preparations but with food as well. We are what we eat, so if you want nourished tanned skin, eat nourishing foods. It is that simple.

Skin shaving or waxing

– After tanning, DON’T shave or wax. If you do, you are working in the opposite direction. It can remove the layer of your tanned skin, so this is not what you want. This is something I never did, but nevertheless, I am exposing it here because I know some of my besties still do it. Don’t do it fam, it won’t do you any good.

And now… Tanning creams. I already wrote some essentials in this post. But, do they truly help with getting tanned in a sunbed? Yes, they are proven to have an effect on your tanning ability. These amazing products rejuvenate your skin and keep it much healthier. And what happens when our skin is healthy? You tan faster, last longer, and are more beautiful. Did you know that it takes 6 minutes for UV rays to penetrate dry skin, and only 30 seconds when your skin is moisturized? Get the most out of your sunbed session and always use a lotion. When using a great tanning cream in the sunbed, you can actually save time and money and get better results compared to an instance when you don’t use a tanning cream.
So in the end… Tanning creams work in sunbeds as well.
